Quickly and easily erase old habits and establish new ones – INSTANTLY… Really?
According to recent Gallup poles, two-thirds of Americans consider themselves over their ideal weight and approximately 35 percent of Americans are trying to lose weight at any given time. It is estimated that Americans spend roughly $60 billion a year in their attempts to lose weight.
Hypnosis is one of the approaches that may seem appealing in order to help with the battle of the bulge. Hypnosis is sometimes advertised and marketed as an easy solution. According to some Internet marketers, you can “quickly and easily erase old habits and establish new ones –INSTANTLY” through one $250 hypnotherapy session. Really? If it were really that easy, why isn’t everyone the exact weight that they desire to be? Buyer beware rings true for claims made that a single session of hypnosis can bring about weight loss with no effort on the part of the client.
Unfortunately, hypnosis suffers from frequent misrepresentation. Hypnosis, contrary to the claims of some advertisers, cannot magically reprogram people’s minds. Hypnosis can however, assist an individual with the psychological and motivational aspects of weight loss.
The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), the largest U.S. organization for medical and mental health care professionals using clinical hypnosis, states that hypnosis is a natural state of inner absorption, concentration and focused attention.“When our minds are concentrated and focused, we are able to use our minds more powerfully.”
There are several studies that indicate that hypnosis, combined with other weight reduction methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exercise, and a healthy food plan, can contribute significantly to weight loss. Medical and mental health experts who are also trained in the use of hypnosis agree that hypnosis can be a very effective technique contributing to weight loss but should compose one part of a more comprehensive weight loss program.
Hypnosis can enhance your success with weight loss efforts. In a state of concentrated attention, ideas and suggestions that are compatible with your weight loss goals seem to have a more powerful impact on the mind. Hypnosis serves as a psychological reinforcer. It can play a role in helping you harness your dreams of having a healthy body and feeling fit and full of energy. Hypnosis for weight loss should not be a cookie cutter approach; it should be a technique that is tailored specifically for you.
If you are considering using hypnosis to aide in your weight loss goals, you should exercise care in selecting a hypnotherapist. Check the training and credentials of anyone offering this therapeutic modality.
