• Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

WHAT IS EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT)?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a quick and simple procedure that has been clinically proven to eliminate stress and emotional issues rapidly – within minutes.  It is also known as “Tapping” or emotional acupressure.  It combines basic principles of psychology with the ancient Chinese medical practice of acupressure.  It can be used with many different kinds of problems and conditions. It involves tapping specific points on the body, in a particular sequence.

It works by tapping on specific acupressure points while tuning into an emotion thereby reducing the intensity of a traumatic memory or phobia, compulsion, fear, stress, food craving, mental blockage and numerous other issues that are influenced by the mind.  There are many ways to apply EFT and get great results.

All of us have experienced at least one of the above issues during our lives. Over the years, we build a backlog of formative experiences and develop unconscious beliefs and coping strategies. In some cases the incidents were mild but for others the experience was much more traumatic.  The premise of EFT is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. Like acupuncture and acupressure, EFT consists of a set of techniques that utilize the body’s energy meridian points.  EFT is a way to release the emotional memories and deeply entrenched patterns of behavior.

Building on the premise that mind and body are one intelligent and fully communicating system, EFT involves tapping on emotion-specific energy meridians in the body.

By tapping on specific points with your fingertips, you can stimulate the meridian, restore the energy flow and resolve emotional problems.

There is a verbal component to EFT. It isn’t the physical tapping in and of itself that changes the energy but the combination of the tapping and the attention and intention of the mind as you go through the sequence of tapping that creates change.

I will teach you how to do EFT. It is a skill you learn and take with you to use to improve your life in a multitude of ways. Many clients are frequently skeptical of the process and always amazed at how well it works.  It is easy to learn and simple to use.

    EFT IS GROUNDED IN SCIENCE

Rigorous evidence-based research methods have been used to establish the efficacy of EFT.

EFT has met the standards of the American Psychological Association (APA) for an “efficacious” treatment for numerous psychological problems such as phobias, anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

EFT is used by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to treat PTSD.

The Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine reports over 100 studies published in peer-reviewed journals demonstrate its efficacy.

    FAQ’S

    What is EFT?

EFT is a brief intervention combining elements of exposure, cognitive therapy, and somatic stimulation of acupressure points on the face and body.

How can I benefit from learning to use EFT?

EFT is a skill you can easily learn. I teach you the process and you can then apply it to many issues that crop up in life allowing you to resolve these issues without the assistance of a therapist or coach.

    How does it work?

The basics of EFT is that you focus on a negative emotion such as a fear, an anxiety, or an unresolved problem; basically anything that is causing you stress or is bothering you. While focusing on this issue, you tap several times on each of eight specific meridian points. Tapping on these specific meridian points while concentrating and accepting the negative emotion works to restore the body and mind to a balanced state and provides relief from the negative emotion.

    How was EFT developed?

Treating emotional problems by tapping on the body’s meridian system was first used by Roger Callahan, a psychiatrist, in the 1970’s. The technique was called “Thought Field Therapy”. The process was a bit complicated for the average person to learn and use. Gary Craig is credited with further developing this technique in the 1990‘s. He refined it, simplified it and made it easier to learn and use.

    Is EFT hard to do?

No. It is extremely easy to learn the basics of EFT. It requires no special equipment and can be used anytime and anywhere. EFT allows the underlying emotional factors that are contributing to a problem to be released along with the energy blocks.

Does EFT work to relieve physical pain?

Because emotional stress is often a contributing factor to pain, disease and physical ailments, EFT may also provide physical relief as well.
